Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is an infection caused by the Borrelia spirochete, a type of bacteria. The ticks that transmit Lyme Disease can also carry a number of related bacteria and parasites including Bartonella, Babesia, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, Rickettsia and Mycoplasma and the whole group of infections is known as Lyme & Co or Tick/Vector Borne Disease.

Lyme Disease imitates other conditions such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Lupus, Sjogrens, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Alzheimer’s Disease, POTS, PANDAS/PANS.

Other presentations include mood disorders,  vertigo and fainting, vision problems, tinnitus, heart palpitations, sternum pain, large and small joint pain, muscle pain, night sweats, insomnia, profound fatigue and brain fog. In children, these infections can cause wild behaviour, tantrums, night terrors, joint pain, bone pain, dilated pupils and problems concentrating.
